NTS Optel is onderdeel van de NTS Group en eerstelijns leverancier van oplossingen die complexe optische, laser- en opto-mechatronische gereedschappen, systemen en modules ontwikkelt, assembleert en test. Wij zijn zowel gericht op eenmalige projecten als op herhaalproductie. Onze kennis ligt voornamelijk op het gebied van de toepassing van verlichtings-, sensor-, imagingoplossing en levering van laserstralen.

NTS Optel is een verticaal integratiebedrijf waar ontwikkeling en assemblage nauw met elkaar zijn verweven. Op onze afdeling Engineering werken uitstekend gekwalificeerde Optical, Software Electronics en Mechanical Engineers (master- of PhD-niveau) die nauw samenwerken met ons assemblageteam vol gekwalificeerde engineers op het gebied van optische assemblage. Wij richten ons met name op de ontwikkeling en productie van Optical & Laser Modules en (turn-key) systemen voor (OEM-)klanten in de Semiconductor-, Analytical- en Life science-markt. We zijn gespecialiseerd in de volgende toepassingsgebieden: Illumination, Imaging, Sensing & Laser Beam Delivery. 

Om onze groei verder in te zetten, bieden wij een interessante uitdaging aan een Optical Design Engineer.

Functieprofiel 

• Je belangrijkste verantwoordelijkheid als Optical Design Engineer is de ontwikkeling van hightech optische en laser-modules en -systemen die worden ingezet in diverse markten en toepassingen;
• Je werkt in een multidisciplinair team, dat vaak wordt geleid door een projectmanager, waarbij je je natuurkundige expertise inzet bij concrete ontwerpen van subsystemen en componenten volgens de specificaties (van de klant);
• Behalve bij het ontwerp van Optics (bijvoorbeeld met ray-tracing/Zemax), word je bijvoorbeeld ook betrokken bij software-opdrachten (image- en signaalverwerking in C++/C#);
• Je kunt ook worden gevraagd om te werken aan het prototype en dit te bouwen in een van onze Optical Labs;
• Je zorgt ervoor dat je op de hoogte blijft van de nieuwste ontwikkelingen in jouw kennisgebied;
• Omdat je deel uitmaakt van een klein team zijn er veel mogelijkheden om je ideeën en standpunten in te brengen. Je ontwikkelt je projecten, maar ook jezelf;
• Je bespreekt alle technische voortgang en resultaten met de klanten;
• Reizen kan onderdeel zijn van deze functie. De ontwikkeling van een systeem voor klanten is het eerste deel van het project. Installatie, inbedrijfstelling en eventueel support is op verzoek mogelijk.

Job Requirements

You bring an interesting combination of technical background and development mentality to the table.

Summarizing, we would be happy if your background looks like this:

• Master or PhD degree in Engineering (Physics or similar);
• Experience in optical design and simulations, preferable experience with OEM customers;
• Experience with Optical Design Software Zemax is key;
• Having a background in mechatronics, mechanics or machinery would be a plus;
• Experience in programming C++ would be a plus.

Furthermore, as a person, you would be best described as follows:

• Eager to learn and develop in creative technology;
• Ambitious, self-starter and proactive;
• Well developed communication and social skills. You know how to convey complex topics in understandable wording;
• Open to travel for your job;
• Strong language skills in English, Dutch is a big plus.
